It’s so Simple | by Sarah Weaver
The simplicity of the Gospel is so profound. I came to realize this in an airport when I met a little Asian lady named Mira.
There was nothing unusual about our interaction as we exchanged my money for the coffee I so desperately needed. Then came the insignificant small talk that is usually never initiated by me, but hey, who knows what came over me. Well, what came over me was this pull to the well-being of this lady I didn’t even know. I then walked away from this interaction never intending to return, but God had other plans.
When I sat down by my departure gate I pulled out a book I had been reading about becoming a contagious Christian (this was also the title). I began reading and this sense of urgency swept over my being. I was reading a book about being the salt and light of the world, but was I really doing just that? My mind kept going back to Mira. Did you ever know to do something….
As I walked back toward the coffee stand my heart raced and I prayed I could have the courage to say what needed to be said. There had been a few times in my life that I “chickened out” and never followed through even though I knew I should have. That was regret I never wanted to have again.
As I told her “God Loves you, Mira” she instantly teared up. She held out her hand to shake mine and I took her hand and said again, “He really loves you.” When I said this it’s like I knew that she had been waiting to hear those words her whole life.
I told her a little about Jesus. A moment later a man walked up to the counter and ended our conversation, but as she went to wait on this man I said, “If you believe you just have to ask him to be your Lord.” Her eyes lit up. I then went on my way.
If you’re wondering where the bells and whistles are, I left them at home. I did not take her through the Roman Road of Salvation or give her a 3 point sermon. The point is that sharing Jesus can be that easy. To this lady the Love of God was so profound, yet to us it may seem too simple. But..isn’t it the Love of God that draws people to repentance. It’s so simple.
